While you may have been physically fit in your youth, have you let yourself go and neglected your health and fitness recently? Are you ready to get in shape and feel your best again? Well, you need to consider a few things before you sign up and get started with a new fitness program.

This can sound intimidating, especially if you have not done fitness training in the past or have minimal experience. You see, knowledge of how your body works is crucial to movement and overall health, so seeking a fitness studio in which to begin your journey will offer you support, guidance, and professional assistance to help simplify the process.

To help you on your path to becoming fit and healthy and to ensure you know the route to take, Pilates Core Center has put together a beginner’s guide to help you start and ultimately succeed in a new exercise program.

Getting Started

Recognize your desire for a healthy life: If you have not worked out in some time, have never worked out before, or are dealing with physical limitations such as knee or back issues, you first need to accept that you need assistance. Recognition of where we are at on our fitness journey is the first step to a life filled with health, wealth, and fun!

Do your research: Along with the desire to add a form of movement to your daily life, a new commitment to good health and well-being, and the courage to take the first step, you should also do some research to decide what exercise system is best suits you. Pilates is an excellent place to start as it is a form of movement that is rehab-based and can be practiced by anyone regardless of body type, age, and ability.

Next Steps

Visit our studio: We encourage potential clients to take a tour of our studio and meet some of our Pilates and yoga instructors. This will give our experts a chance to evaluate your needs and advise you on how to get started safely. You can also view our photo gallery as this will give you an idea of what we are about.

Sign-up: If you are new to fitness and movement routines, we encourage you to sign up for our intro to Pilates packages to determine if a Pilates practice is right for you. You can choose from our group classes, private and semi-private lessons, and also benefit from our holistic healing spa.

Advice from the pros

Don’t be afraid to take the first step: Fear of stepping into the unknown and hesitation to learn new, challenging techniques are normal. However, it is good to remember that you are taking this step to improve your life. With guidance from our knowledgeable and comprehensively trained teachers, you will gain mobility, agility, balance, posture, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

Start the process with a friend: While this might not be feasible for all of us, if possible, it is nice to have the support of a friend when getting into a new fitness regime. This small comfort can help you stay motivated and focused and benefit both of you equally. So, next time you want to socialize, instead of going to lunch or dinner with a friend, take a Pilates class!

At Pilates Core Center, our goal is to exceed your expectations. As the go-to experts in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, for all things Pilates and yoga, you can feel confident as you are in good hands. We offer pilates classes, balanced body pilates teacher training, yoga classes, and more!

Exchange Ideas - Exchange Questions - Exchange History - Change the Future

The structure of our Mentor/Apprentice program to accommodate a group class called The Pilates Exchange is changing. Each class will have a topic of focus which we will use to relate to specific Pilates exercises starting with Mat and moving to any piece of equipment that we choose. This is a terrific opportunity to ask questions that might have come up in your practice or from observing others in a class.

The 10 Private Session requirement has changed and been replaced with 4 private sessions and 8 Pilates Exchange classes.

The classes will be offered virtually via Zoom and recorded to accommodate different schedules and individuals living in different parts of the world. The recorded sessions will be available a couple of days later through the Pilates Core Center On-Demand option via its MindBody Online web scheduling system.

The Pilates Exchange

The Pilates Exchange is a group class designed to enhance the knowledge of current and future Pilates instructors and apprentices. Facilitated by Jessica Moss, we will meet one Monday each month to question, learn and dig deeper into anatomy, alignment, and movement.

Class Topics Include:

Accessing the upper fibers of the psoas

Mobilizing the spine

Stability/Mobility of the upper and lower limb

Realigning the foot
